POOL Terms of Service

1. What POOL is - and isn't

POOL helps a private group of people you already know run a rotating savings circle (susu / ajo / tanda / hui / stokvel - whatever your community calls it): everyone contributes on a schedule, and one member gets the pot each round.

POOL is not a bank, a money transmitter, a lender, or a payment processor. POOL never holds, moves, receives, or has custody of any money at any point. Every payment happens directly between members, outside the app, using whatever method they agree on (Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, cash, etc.). POOL only keeps the shared record of what each member says happened - who marked a contribution sent, who confirmed it arrived, who received a payout. POOL cannot make anyone pay, cannot reverse a payment, and cannot recover money that was never actually sent.

2. Who can use POOL

You must be 18 years or older to create an account or be added as a member. By creating an account, or by directing someone to add you as a managed member, you're confirming you meet this requirement.

A "managed member" is someone a Pool's Captain or another member adds to a circle before that person has a POOL account of their own (e.g., an older relative who isn't on the app yet). The person who added them is responsible for representing that member accurately until the member claims their own account with a Captain-approved claim link.

3. Your account

• You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for everything that happens under your account.
• One account per person. Don't create an account on someone else's behalf, except through the managed-member flow above.
• We can suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, abuses other members, or is used fraudulently.

4. How a Pool works (the part you're agreeing to when you join one)

• Captains set up a Pool's size, contribution amount, schedule and payout order, and can invite, approve, or add members before it starts. Once active, a Captain can pin announcements, moderate chat, and propose payout changes - but any change to a member's future payout turn needs that member's approval; a Captain can't unilaterally move money away from someone.
• Every member is expected to actually send their contribution on schedule and to honestly confirm what they've sent or received. POOL shows the shared record; it doesn't and can't verify that a payment actually happened outside the app.
• The record is permanent. Once a contribution is confirmed or a payout is received, that record can't be edited or deleted by anyone, including us - it's the shared history the whole circle relies on. Leaving or being removed from a Pool doesn't erase your part in its history for other members.
• Disputes between members (someone who didn't pay, a disagreement about what was agreed) are between the members. POOL provides the record and a report/block tool for chat; we don't arbitrate, refund, or guarantee any outcome between members.

5. Acceptable use

Don't use POOL to: run a circle for money you don't actually intend to pay into; harass, threaten, or defraud another member; impersonate someone; collect or share other members' personal data outside the app; or attempt to bypass the security of the service. We can remove content or suspend accounts that violate this.

6. Content you submit

Chat messages, Pool names/descriptions, profile photos, and feedback you submit are yours, but you give us the right to store and show them to the people they're meant for (your Pool-mates, or us for feedback) so the app can work. Don't submit anything you don't have the right to share.

7. No warranty, limitation of liability

POOL is provided "as is." We don't guarantee the app will always be available, error-free, or that any member will actually pay what they owe.

8. Changes to these terms

We'll update this page and its effective date when these terms change; for material changes we'll tell you in the app.
